Max I Yedid

B'ezrat Hashem, this October I will once again be participating in the SBH Junior Marathon—this year as both a runner and a Captain for Team SBH. I am also incredibly honored to serve as President of the SBH Youth Division. To me, SBH represents the heart of our community, providing food, clothing, shelter, guidance, and endless acts of chesed to those who need it most. This year, I am dedicating my fundraising in memory of my grandfather and namesake, Max Yedid ע"ה (Mordechai ben Freida). Although I never had the privilege of meeting him, I grew up hearing stories of his kindness and generosity, and I hope to honor his legacy by helping others. Our family name, ידיד, means "beloved friend," but it can also be understood as "two hands." "יד + יד" A friend may lend one hand. A true ידיד extends both hands—giving wholeheartedly and without hesitation. That is the essence of SBH. This year's marathon falls during the week of my grandfather's 28th yahrzeit, and fittingly, the gematria of ידיד is 28—a meaningful reminder that his legacy continues to inspire acts of chesed.
